Some desktops may use multiple chipsets which could increase USB usage. This means that using them for video capturing will be limited to one, or maybe two connections. So 3 or 4 USB slots may only be using one chipset and sharing the data throughputs. Also take into account when dealing with laptops or certain desktops that USB connections are connected to chipsets. Simply going to the local box store and purchasing a name brand laptop or desktop designed for office use will not have the power to sustain an application like vMix in a production environment. Live streaming take up a lot of CPU and GPU (video card) processing and memory. Other vMix features such as DSK's (overlays, lower thirds) also take resources. Combine that with streaming and or recording it is important to make sure you have the resources required to operate these features. Each source whether it is a live video feed, or an application interface input takes resources to run. Both software solutions offer NDI embedded that allow you to take those graphics and lyrics and send them easily into vMix over your network. They also incorporate Easy Worship, or Pro Presenter. In certain cases this means just running a single camera, or two cameras with the intention to grow over time. We have a lot of clients that are looking to get into productions at a very low budget.
